HCS were formed in Geelong, Victoria, Australia in the summer of 1997, originally as a trio with leader/guitarist Ben C, guitarist Ben Cohen and violinist Phil.

 

As with the often humble beginnings of many bands, cafes and restaurants were the order of the day: the chance for the group to hone their skills and develop repertoire.
